Welcome to Friends of Gotherington School (FOGS)
FOGS is our Parent Teacher Association which exists to raise essential funds to support school activities and to encourage closer links between home and school. We do this through fundraising events that provide an opportunity for parents, staff and pupils to get together such as our Summer and Christmas Fair, Cake Sales, School Disco, Easter Trails and more. We also work closely with the village on activities such as the annual Hedgehog trail.
Funding for the school in today’s environment is an increasing pressure, so FOGS funds are vital to provide school with facilities, equipment or activities that would otherwise not able available to the children of the school.
In the past the funds raised have been spent on:
- The Learning Resource Centre (over £8,300)
- Forest school donation and funds to improve the outside spaces at school
- Maths and science workshops
- Music tuition and instruments
At least £4,500 is donated annually with funds split across six curriculum enrichment areas: art, sport, school trips, music, ICT and eco/school grounds. In previous years we’ve also supported pottery workshops, digital cameras, basketball hoops and other playground equipment.
FOGS can only work with your support and involvement and there are lots of different ways to get involved. All contributions make an enormous difference. So, whether you’re handy baking cakes, a whizz at running a quiz, super as a stall holder or just want to turn up and have some fun, all help is gratefully received.
For this year our target is to raise £20,000 towards the outside learning space, new sustainable play equipment and a new bandstand, something we are working on alongside the School and Governors.
